PITTSBURG, KS – March 15, 2024 – Pitt Plastics staff, along with the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce Koehn Construction Services, and key city staff gathered on East Atkinson Avenue at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility. The expansion will result in additional jobs at a scope to be determined upon the project’s expected completion by January 2025. Pitt Plastics is an Inteplast Group affiliate company within the IBS Division.
The 200,000 sq.-ft. facility will house racked, finished goods, and also encompass 14,000 square feet of office space. Currently, the existing site is 300,000 square feet and employs approximately 350 manufacturing professionals serving consumer, commercial, healthcare, and foodservice markets.
Pitt Plastics General Manager Aron Jahr said that Pittsburg and the surrounding areas in Crawford County have supported the company’s growth for more than five decades.
“Pitt Plastics has been an integral part of Pittsburg, Kansas since our beginnings in 1971. We view this warehouse expansion as the next stage of our evolution of growth. Upon completion this warehouse will effectively triple our current storage capacity and thus give us a greater ability service our customers, nationwide, for many years to come,” said Jahr. “Our growth, over the years, has been directly relational to the tremendous work ethic and push for excellence from our neighbors in Pittsburg and Crawford County, in general.”
Koehn Construction Services was selected as a partner on the expansion due to its “prior exemplary work at the site,” Jahr added.
IBS Division President Ronnie Chang said that the expansion in Pittsburg is aligned with the production needs and demands of Pitt Plastics’ customers.
“We are thrilled about our latest expansion project, a testament to our unwavering commitment to growth. At Inteplast, we believe in reinvesting in our business to better serve our customers and communities. Our decision to expand in this chosen location was also driven by the dedication to excellence and exceptional work ethics ingrained in our employees at the Pittsburg plant. We are confident that the expansion will not only bolster our presence in the market but also create new opportunities for success,” said Chang.
Pitt Plastics’ flagship location in Pittsburg, a city with a population of just over 20,000, is in southeast KS in the Ozark Highlands region. The are two other locations in Columbus, OH, and Morrow, GA.
